Magicard Prima 4 retransfer printer

Highlights:

The Prima 4 is a reverse transfer ID card printer that produces photo quality cards, comparable to offset litho printing. It uses reverse-transfer printing technology which allows the image to be printed onto a thin re-transfer film in a "reverse image" and heat transferred onto the card. The advantages of Reverse Transfer technology are its very high print quality, true over-the-edge printing on the card, the ability to print onto uneven or bumpy cards, such as some contactless cards and the ability to print onto non-PVC cards like ABS, PET, PVH and Polycarbonate.

Description:

A special dye sublimation Ultra Violet (UV) ribbon can be used with the Prima 4 for the printing of invisible photographs, logos, text or symbols when issuing high security cards. The UV ink is not detectable to the naked eye, but is only visible with the use of a UV light source. This special YMCK-UV ribbon offers an affordable yet still highly secure feature to decrease susceptibility to counterfeiting. Images printed by the reverse transfer technology method tend to wear longer then cards printed by the direct to card printers. One of the key advantages of Reverse Transfer or Re-transfer ID card printing technology is the increased yield when printing technology cards for access control. Reverse transfer printers print on the reverse side of a clear film which is then laminated onto the card surface resulting in consistently high quality printed cards, where as Direct to card printers require a completely flat print surface to achieve high quality images. Cards constructed with embedded technologies such as IC chips or antennas typically have inconsistent surfaces.
